Pre-compressed, impregnated foam tape for sealing joints between components, such as around window installations,  sits between the base of the window and the top of the sill, is installed to the underside into the window groove before installation, and slowly expands to fill the gap, no more silicons that degrade with time --  metal beams and timber wooden panels in timber frame construction. Resistant to wind-driven rain, UV-resistant. Resistant to driven rain up to 600 Pa.
